What Lighting is the best?
For best lighting source use sunlight. Most cameras (both 35mm and digital)
take superior pictures outdoors. If that is not an option take the photo
in a room in your home that is best lit by natural light.
What Position should may baby be in?
Photograph your baby in a sitting position. Try either the carseat or
the bouncy seat; be sure to have your baby sitting in either of these
seats on the floor when taking the photo. Another option is to photograph
your baby sitting on your lap. (Make sure the focus is on the baby and
not both people). Try to include your baby from head to toe in the picture
- it will provide us with the most flexibility when designing your announcement.
What Color clothing should my baby wear?
Photograph your baby in whatever outfit is your favorite. Do not worry
about how the colors will look in the announcement/card as we can change
the colors of the objects in our designs very easily. Do try to photograph
your baby with a contrasting background. For example, if you want to
photograph your baby wearing pink - place a a blue blanket versus a
white one behind her. This is simply so that we have a clear image of
your baby and her clothing.
What
Quantity of pictures should I take or send?
Plan to take at least a dozen or so pictures of your baby. You may have
to go through this exercise a couple of times - as infants are not very
cooperative especially if you want a photo with their eyes open! Please
send us a couple favorite photographs with your preference stated on the
back using either a post it note or by writing lightly with a pencil.
Do not use ball point pen or felt tip to write on the picture. 99.9% of
the time we can work with your favorite photo - but just in case there
is a problem it is a good idea to provide a couple alternative photos.
What Type of photo do I send?
We can work with either regular photos, digital photos, scanned photos,
professional photos, or slides. (If you send a slide it is going to
add 1 day processing time to your announcement/card.) Send your regular
photo to us either using an express mail service or USPS. If you are
sending us a photo taken by a studio than you will need to include a
photographers release in order for us to use the photo. As long as they
do not offer the same product (which they don't) this is not a problem.
Upload your digital photo in the highest resolution that your camera
supports. Save in either .jpg or .tif format. Scan your photo at a minimum
of 300 dpi and Upload in either .jpg or .tif format. We will
return all regular photos (with your order) in the condition which they
were received.
This
sounds too hard....!
We know that getting the perfect photo of your baby is not an easy task.
The best part of this is that once you have the photo you are done.
You will be thrilled with your proof and you will love the way your
baby looks sitting in the moon, lounging in the nest, or sitting a top
the golf tee. You will be so excited to share these unique, beautiful
cards, that when your friends and family comment on what a gorgeous
baby you have you won't even remember having taken the photo!!!!
